US and Canada Daily Snow

Powder for the west through at least April 20th

Summary

On the morning of Thursday, April 11, a powerful storm will bring powder to Utah and Colorado, as well as blizzard conditions across the northern plains. Then another storm, or series of systems, will deliver additional snow to the Northwest and Rockies during the week of April 15-19.

Short Term Forecast

The Forecast for Thursday 4/11 – Friday 4/12

The map for Thursday and Friday, April 11-12 looks more like winter than spring. But it is not out of the ordinary for big snow to fall during April across the Rockies.

Northern Utah will likely see 1-2+ FEET of snow by Thursday morning, and parts of northern and southern Colorado should be tallying storm totals of 10-18 inches.

And while the following might not be top of mind for the skiers out west, the same storm will bring 1-2 FEET of snow and blizzard conditions to the northern plains of Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota.

The Forecast for Saturday 4/13– Sunday 4/14

The weather will quiet down just a bit over the weekend. A weak southern storm should bring light snow to New Mexico and Colorado, while another system moves onshore over the Pacific Northwest.

The Forecast for Monday 4/15– Friday 4/19

The atmosphere will NOT take a break next week, so there will be more powder if you’re willing to go after it.

A single storm, or possibility a series of systems, will move from the Northwest through the Rockies during the week. Snow totals could be significant in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado.

Extended Forecast

The Outlook for Saturday 4/20 – Wednesday 4/24

The powder party over the west might come to a slow end later in April as the coldest air shifts to the eastern half of North America.

However, this weather pattern could still allow storms to track from northwest-to-southeast, along the spine of the Rockies, so there could be additional snow for British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado.

Thanks for reading and look for the next forecast on Monday, April 15.
